    Welcome
to our World Wide Web pages

Inter-Research (IR) is a self-sustaining international Science Center - small but with great global impact.

IR web pages are contacted very often. For May 2005 'SUMMARY.NET' has recorded 1,041,341 hits; 131,569 visits. The visitors reside in 160 countries.

    IR produces high-quality publications:

IR employs more staff and invests more effort and money for evaluating, selecting and improving submitted manuscripts than most other publishers - commercial, institutional or society based.

IR spends a considerable percentage of its taxable income on supporting science, education and ethics, and on conducting endangered-species Research.

IR sponsors the international Ecology Institute (ECI), a non-profit organization of research ecologists dedicated to fostering ecological awareness. By publishing Excellence in Ecology, the ECI provides a platform for leading research ecologists - the recipients of the ECI Prize - to present overviews of their fields of professional competence. In this way they share with a large readership their own views on current ecological issues as well as their insights into the ecological realities that form the framework for the sustained existence and development of humanity. IR also sponsors the Eco-Ethics International Union (EEIU), a non-profit organization developing and implementing a new concept of ethics based on scientific knowledge. Founded in 1998, the EEIU is coordinated globally by Headquarters (Oldendorf/Luhe, Germany) and General Office (Sevastopol, Ukraine). The Union is guided by EEIU Fellows, distinguished supporters and representatives. It enjoys rapidly growing world-wide interest and increasing numbers of Members in numerous countries. EEIU Chapters are being founded in all parts of the world. The Union's publication organ is the international journal 'Ethics in Science and Environmental Politics' (ESEP).

IR supports the Otto Kinne Foundation (OKF) which provides financial assistance for promising young environmental scientists in Eastern European countries.

IR finances the Eduard Brückner Award honoring outstanding interdisciplinary achievements in climate research. The award is bestowed at the 'Deutsche Klimatagung'.

The presidentof IR is Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Otto Kinne. Staff world wide: ca 2000 (Editors, Contributing Editors, Review Editors, Referees, Advisors), plus ca 1700 Members and Fellows of IR- sponsored institutions (ECI, EEIU).
Staff on local payroll: 35 (mainly editors, copy editors, typesetters, research assistants, and administrative personnel).
